Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How do I register for a class?

Registration for all courses can be done through our website using Visa or Mastercard. Registrations are also accepted by phone using Visa or Mastercard. For in-person registrations, we accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Interac. We do not, under any circumstances, reserve spots in any of the classes without payment.

Will I receive confirmation of enrollment?

An Email confirmation will be sent when registering using our online system. Registrations completed over the phone or in person will also be confirmed by Email once the registration has been processed.

How do I find out what courses are available?

All of our current course listings are available to view on our website. Our course catalogue is also online. We print a small number of catalogues each term. A copy of our catalogue can be mailed directly upon request.

What is the deadline for enrollment?

We take registrations up to the day the class is starting. However, by waiting you run the risk of the class being full or cancelled due to lack of enrollment. Registration at least one week before the first class is recommended.

What is your Registration & Refund Policy?

Full information on our Registration & Refund policy can be viewed at https://dvsa.ca/policies/

What happens if a class is cancelled?

If DVSA cancels your course, you may choose between a full refund, a credit, or another available class of your choice. If a single class is cancelled during the term, for example the teacher is ill, you will be advised by phone. In case of inclement weather, check the school website and social media pages to confirm if the school is open. If a class is cancelled, a make-up class will be added on to the end of term.

How strict is your policy on age ranges in children’s classes?

Children who are slightly older than the age range for a particular class may attend, provided they don’t mind being in a class with younger children. We strongly discourage children younger than the stated age range from attending a class; in our experience it seldom meets the needs of the child, teacher or other students. We are not licensed to provide art programming for children under the age of 4 years. Parents with children in programs for 4-6 year olds may be asked to provide proof of age for their child. DVSA reserves the right to cancel a student registration without the benefit of a refund/credit if the registrant’s age does not meet the course age requirements.

Will I receive a T2202A Tuition Form when I take a class at DVSA?

Unless you are a student in our Full Time Studies Diploma Program, Canada Revenue Agency has determined we are unable to issue T2202A Certificates. Dundas Valley School of Art is not certified by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), and cannot apply as we currently offer no “programs” that are directly related to employment or social development.
