Design a unique, sculptural pendant by combining two gorgeous materials! In this intermediate level class, basic metal fabrication techniques will be used to embellish small pieces of wood with sterling silver and create a precious metal relief. Fabrication techniques covered include sawing, filing, soldering and finishing. Studio fee includes the silver and wood, the use of an in-class individual tool kit per student, as well as larger shared equipment. This course introduces students to fundamental design principles. These principles that underpin two-dimensional space will be explored using typography, photography, and drawing. All students are required to have their own computers with Adobe CC Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign software to complete assignments. This is a qualifying course towards the Certificate in Digital Media Skills and the Certificate in Art and Design Studio Skills. This is a hands-on, fast-paced course that builds on skills, creative techniques, and concepts taught in the introductory Digital Photography and Photoshop courses. Students explore the art of digital imaging through colour correction, digital effects, and batch processing. The course is held in OCAD U's computer lab using the latest software. Output will be purchased externally or through the in-house print service bureau. This course qualifies for the Certificate in Digital Media Skills, the Certificate in Web Design and Development Skills and the Certificate in Photography Skills.
