On September 30th, DVSA joins Canadians in commemorating the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. DVSA will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with classes resuming Thursday, Oct. 1.

September 30th marks the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada, honouring the missing children, survivors, and the families impacted by these institutions. It is observed alongside Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led grassroots movement that invites everyone to wear orange in solidarity with survivors and their communities.

At DVSA, we are committed to acknowledging historical injustices and advancing reconciliation. We strive to foster inclusive environments and create space in the visual arts for marginalized voices. On this important day, we encourage our community to wear orange, engage with Indigenous history and support Indigenous artists.
