Our Piece X Piece community outreach art project is now installed on the exterior of DVSA (on the elevator shaft around the back of our building). Under the guidance of DVSA instructor and mosaic artist Nancy Zboch, members from five local organizations had the opportunity to learn the processes involved in designing and creating a mosaic work of art. The resulting mural design is inspired by the Dundas community and the many different voices that meld together and are embraced by nature.
A big thank you to the participating members of our Dundas community partners who collaborated to create this fabulous piece – Ellen Osler Home, Hamilton Down Syndrome Association, Dundas Montessori School, Routes Youth Centre and The Dundas Learning Centre. Thank you also to Nancy for leading this project along with assistance from instructor, Siobhan Lynch. And, our deepest appreciation goes out to the crew at JT Construction Group for persevering and ensuring this artwork was installed with precision and care.
This program was made possible thanks to: The Hamilton Community Foundation’s Dougher Community Fund and Community Arts Fund; the H.G. Bertram Foundation; the Burlington Community Foundation’s Pieczonka Family Fund; and the Henry White Kinnear Foundation.
