About
Margot Roi

O.C.T., B.F.A.

Margot Roi is an exhibiting visual artist who has worked combining sound, installation, mixed and traditional media. Her current artworks on canvas and paper reflect the inner dynamism of voice revealed in the physicality of intense, intuitive mark-making. She focuses on breathing and the anticipation of exhaling in the moment of execution. Margot outlines a recognizable reaction and a suspenseful narrative throughout each artwork. This transformation encourages a tension and release dialogue with the viewer. Margot’s artwork commemorates this intimate conversation one breath or layer at a time.

Margot Roi is from the Dundas/Hamilton area and now resides in Oakville, Ontario. Margot has received numerous provincial and regional awards for her work as an arts educator and as a visual artist. She currently teaches at the university and college level as a sessional instructor. Margot’s artworks can be found in numerous private and corporate collections.
