Founded in 1964, Dundas Valley School of Art (DVSA) is an independent visual arts school committed to nurturing an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment for everyone who learns and works at the school.
DVSA is seeking visual art instructors from the Hamilton region to join our part-time faculty roster for the fall of 2025 and onward. We are interested in hearing from artists with experience and passion for teaching art to children.
Ideal candidates will:
- Be a working artist with a current portfolio of work for evaluation
- Hold a College Diploma, BFA, MFA or PhD or other relevant degree in the appropriate field OR an exhibition record demonstrating an accomplished body of work
- Have previous experience teaching art to children
- Possess strong communication skills
- Have an enthusiastic and engaging teaching style with a desire to help children express themselves artistically
- Have completed a vulnerable sector check within the past year, or be prepared to do so and provide DVSA with the report before teaching begins.

- a few words about why you would like to teach at DVSA
- a short artist statement
- the media you like to teach
- the age groups you like to teach (4-6 years, 7-10 years, 11-18 years)
- a description of your past teaching experience
- a description of your teaching style and/or teaching philosophy
- a current cv including your exhibition history and teaching experience
- 10 images of your work, or a link to your website or online portfolio
- names and contact information for two references
