About Holly Sneath

Holly was born in Toronto and had the great fortune of growing up in the Dundas area.  She began her art education at Dundas Valley School of Art while it was still under the original administration, Mario Polidori as Director.

Travels include Italy, Mexico, Central and South America.  She currently lives and works in the Hamilton area, when not escaping to the wilds of the District of Timiskiming, in Ontario’s Near North.

Holly has exhibited in Canada, the United States and Italy.

She is represented locally by Gallery on the Bay, Hamilton.

Painting is a conscious attempt to unravel, through visualization and introspection the essential elements of significance to one’s life. While working through studies from life as well as abstract imagery, I try to catch a glimpse beneath my own veneer of consciousness from which to construct a personal hypothesis of reality. One can only hope that the resulting work might resonate with the viewer.

Painting is a form of meditation – a balance, often precarious, between formal elements or craft, and the less tangible – the content, or raison d’etre for the work.
