1A01 NEW Watercolour and Its Colours: Beginning to Intermediate

Learn to master this challenging, yet gratifying painting medium, starting with basic techniques and moving through a series of exercises and projects designed to build your confidence and talents. Throughout the week, a focus will be on colour theory with studies designed to increase your knowledge of the behaviour of colours and colour mixtures.

1A14 Beginners' Drawing

For anyone looking to become an artist, basic drawing skills are considered essential. This introduction to drawing course will challenge your senses and develop your drawing and shading skills – all in a supportive and inspirational environment. 1A15 Exploring Watercolour: Emphasis on Architectural Detail in Colour, Light and Design

In this workshop for watercolour painters of all levels, students will concentrate on design, dramatic light and colour emphasis. We’ll explore architectural detail as it is integrated into the summer Ontario landscape and beyond. A focus on colour combinations, both new and proven, is sure to deliver luminous results!

This beginner approach to abstract painting will have you experimenting with innovative ways of creating art as you plunge into expressive colour mixing, brushwork and composition. Imaginations come alive in this animated camp with a focus on the basic skills and concepts of cartooning. Content will include drawing expressions, actions, and humour with many exciting lessons and projects.

This week is the Wild Wacky World of Animals – From north to south, east to west, we’ll go on a week long sketching safari and learn to draw funny cartoon animals from around the world.

Children are required to bring their own 8 X 10 spiral ringed sketchbook. *Any reference to licensed characters are for classroom inspirational purposes only.

Lego can be much more than just a building material. In this week of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpting, Lego will provide not just the inspiration, but the means to make great art. 1A18 Get Exposed to Digital Photography

Jump from AUTO to Manual settings on your camera and open up your creativity. Designed for beginner to intermediate photographers, this course will provide you with the essential tools and knowledge to transform your camera from that complicated device into an amazing tool for your creative imagination. Learn about the workings of your camera and lenses, the fundamentals of exposure, shutter speed and ISO, lighting tricks and how to compose a creative composition. Photo editing on the computer and preparing images for print or online use will also be introduced. Participants are required to work with a digital SLR removable lens camera (not point & shoot).

1A19 Silkscreen Studio

Discover the versatility and unique characteristics of silkscreening using the latest non-toxic techniques. This course is suitable for both beginning and experienced screen printers. Beginners will learn a step-by-step method designed to inspire the creation of silkscreened projects. Returning students will explore more challenging ideas aimed at cultivating an advanced set of silk screening skills.

1A02 NEW Summer Plein Air Landscape Painting

Discover how painting on location can breathe life into your work as we get outside with brushes and easels for a week of open air sketching with paint. We’ll explore the fundamentals of site selection, developing a compositional sketch, working in direct color and more as we visit local waterfalls and spots in the conservation areas. Students will be encouraged to take site pictures for studio use on inclement weather days. For intermediate or experienced painters working in oils or acrylics. Students must provide own transportation to painting sites.
