In DVSA News

We are happy to say that DVSA is once again open. However, for the summer months, it is in a limited capacity. While our Art Camps are operating, access to the school is available between 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 – 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday and for course/camp registrations only.

We are back in the main office weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., able to assist by phone and take registrations. Registrations for Summer are also available online or by phone at 905-628-6357 #0. If you’d like assistance with registration or have any issues/questions, call us or reach out at

We have implemented a number of new health and safety protocols for our students, faculty and staff which you can learn more about here.

Summer Art Camps
DVSA is offering a modified version of our Children’s Summer Art Camps.

Health and safety is paramount and we are strictly adhering to the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Day Camp guidelines. We have further developed the guidelines in relation to DVSA in an effort to meet and/or exceed ministry standards. We encourage you to view that information here.

There are some significant changes to our regular Art Camp procedures and we ask that all families review these procedures before registering and/or attending a camp.

  • Unfortunately, we are not running our programs for Ages 4-6 years. This was a difficult decision and we apologize to those parents and students who will be affected. After much deliberation, we felt it will be too difficult to implement the required safety measures for our youngest students, ensure the protocols are being met and still create an enjoyable experience. We are disappointed not to be having our younger artists join us this summer, but hope we can welcome them back in the Fall. Our camps designated for Ages 6-7, Ages 6-8 and older will run as scheduled.
  • We are also offering Online Summer Art Camp options for children – please check our classes page for our offerings. Look under Summer Art Camp – Online.
  • To ensure we can implement the required social distancing measures, camp enrolment numbers have been reduced to 8 per class. We will be notifying families if a specific camp now exceeds the recommended enrolment number and offering alternatives where we can for that week and age range. Priority will be given to students based on enrolment date. Again, we apologize to our families who may be affected by this, but we must adhere to the Ministry’s guidelines.
  • A signed waiver is REQUIRED for each student enrolled. More about this process is here. We will be making contact to ensure a waiver is provided for your child.

We are excited to have our young artists back in the studios. Registration for Summer Art Camps can be completed online at, by calling 905-628-6357 #0 or visiting the school during the designated hours.

Most Summer Adult Classes Are Online
Except for classes being offered outdoors, our Adult art class options for summer are online. All in-studio Adult classes are cancelled. This too was a difficult decision and we apologize to all our adult artists hoping to return to the studios. We believe an in-studio experience is the best environment for providing art instruction. However, the Ontario Ministry of Health Day Camp guidelines are extensive and as our Children’s Art Camps constitute the bulk of our summer program, we have decided to make that the focus for now. Combining adult and children’s classes in the same environment is simply not feasible at this time due to health and safety concerns.

Our online class options for summer are open for registration. We hope to be able to welcome everyone back to the studios in the Fall.

The 50th Art Auction and Pop-Up Online Auctions
The 50th Auction is postponed. In the interim, we are running our wildly successful Pop-Up Online Art Auctions featuring great works submitted for the 50th event.

We hope to announce a new date for the event and hold another submissions period. We will be back! We have 5 decades to celebrate and we’re going to need the support of our community more than ever.

Submitting artists for our 50th Art Auction: We continue to offer our Pop-Up Online Art Auctions and will notify you in advance if we would like to include your work previously submitted for our 50th event. Once we are able to officially re-open, we will make a decision about the auction and whether we will be able to hold a rescheduled event. Should you prefer, you will have the opportunity to pick up your submitted work.
