Catherine Gibbon

B.A.

Catherine is a native of Dundas. She is a founding member of the Carnegie Gallery and has created and developed art and environment related projects such as “On the Edge.” She has maintained a working studio in the Dundas area for several decades and continues to work in this area while exhibiting in public galleries across Canada. She has also worked as Artist in residence in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Saskatchewan. She is the recipient of numerous awards and public commissions.

Catherine is also a musician who plays the wooden flute and performs in several local traditional music groups.

BACKGROUND & TRAINING:
Mostly self taught, but received inspirational mentoring at DVSA and completed a B.A. in Art History at McMaster University

EXHIBITIONS & SHOWS:
Catherine Gibbon is represented by Gallery on the Bay in Hamilton. She has had many solo and group shows in public Gallery exhibitions in Ontario and other provinces including Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Newfoundland She has also exhibited in public galleries in England and has work included in public collections in Canada and abroad. Her work was recently featured in the “Painting Hamilton” exhibit at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, curated by Melissa Bennett.
