DVSA is recruiting people to join the volunteer Board of Governors.
Established in 1964 by Marion Farnon and Emily Dutton, DVSA has grown from a small, dedicated group of art teachers and students to an organization known nationally for high quality art instruction serving learners on site, online and in the community.
We’re seeking to create a diverse board culture that closely matches the diversity of our community and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.
The role of the board is to set the mission of DVSA and provide oversight to ensure it is carried out. As part of their role, the board has the responsibility to ensure that financial, legal, ethical, and moral standards of the school are appropriately upheld.
The board is comprised of up to 17 members with a variety of skills, perspectives, and backgrounds.
Currently there are 3 positions available, and it would be helpful to add the following skills and experience to the present complement:
- Human Resources
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
It is expected members will attend the regular monthly board meetings and participate in some committee work as appropriate to the area of expertise.
Candidates will be passionate about DVSA and willing to commit their time, talent, and treasure to the school to the extent of their capabilities.
Experience on other NPO boards would be an asset.
New members are elected to the Board at the Annual General Meeting in September, initially for a one-year term.
Please email as one document a current CV and a letter of interest outlining how you might contribute to the DVSA organization to email@example.com with “Board member” in the subject heading.
DVSA values equity, diversity, and inclusion, that every person has a right to equal treatment, and that diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences strengthen our community.
