“I try sometimes to tone it down, sometimes I can, but the intense colours usually make their way to the top!”

Julia Veenstra’s work is found in collections around the world. As a painter, her work is full of texture and movement. Trained in Illustration at Sheridan College, Julia’s medium of choice is acrylic with her work being known for its immediacy and bright colours. She has also developed a thriving micro-industry called the Wild Hope Artisan Project with women artisans in East Africa to create high-quality, fair-trade handicrafts for sale in Canada. She has developed a product line based on her artwork and is the illustrator of the children’s book, “Look at Those Cows!”
