We are looking to offer our upcoming Artist Talks in person and online. More details will be announced in October – watch this page for updates on participation options.
A self-taught painter and drawer, Gordon Leverton has been working as a professional artist since 2006. After many years of involvement with the music industry, he sold his record store to take on responsibilities as a stay-at-home father and became fascinated with his “adopted” city of Hamilton. Using acrylic paint and pastel to break urban landscapes down into their raw components, he captures unique shadows, colours, and angles hiding in everyday locations. His pieces reflect heavily on the themes of community and connection.
Gordon is a founding member of the West Hamilton Artists Tour (WHAT), a member of Hamilton Artists Inc., Hamilton Arts Council, and several other guilds and artist groups. His work has appeared in several publications, broadcasts, and journals, and is coveted by collectors. Gordon successfully engages people with his art through his popular Instagram account, @hamiltonartist.
Gordon will speak more about his work, process and experiences on Tuesday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. here at DVSA.
