Think of it as being fashionably late.

We’re pleased to announce we’ll be holding our 49½ Annual Art Auction during the week of September 21 – 26, featuring the artwork submitted for our postponed 50th event.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are implementing a modified format for this edition – bidding for all artwork will be online beginning September 21 with in-school previews available throughout the week during designated times. Art lovers have the option to reserve a time to come to DVSA, view the artwork in person and place your bids online. Or you can remain at home and do all your viewing and bidding online.

We will not hold a Live Auction night this year. Instead, we’ll have a number of Featured Artworks by some of your favourite auction artists. The Featured Artworks will be prominently displayed online for bidding and be available for in-person viewing in the school loft studio throughout the week.

Online bidding for the Featured Artworks ends at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.
Online bidding on all other auction artwork and Dream Auction items closes at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26.

For health and safety reasons, we will be limiting the number of visitors in the school during previews. Visitors will need to reserve a time in advance to attend. Our Discovery Room, showcasing a wide selection of highly affordable pottery and matted works, books, art supplies and equipment – will also be open throughout the preview week. There’s no cash accepted this time around – credit and debit cards only.

As for our 50th anniversary auction proper, we’ll wait until next April when we hope to be able to pop the corks and stage a full auction event.

Submitting artists, if you do not wish us to use your artwork for this event, please let us know ASAP by emailing us. Our ongoing Pop-Up Online Art Auctions have indicated we are onto a successful format and we feel this version, albeit larger, will be no different. We hope we can count on your support when the school and all regional artists most need it. The reserve bid and payment split/preference you set on your contracts for the 50th event will still apply.

To those artists hoping to submit artwork for this modified auction, thank you for your generosity and interest. We ask that you hold your work for our rescheduled 50th event in April 2021. As this event has changed and is mostly being hosted online, we need to limit submissions to what we have.

Watch our website here as we share more details about the auction, including how to reserve your timed-entry preview tickets and the link for online previews and bidding. More to come!
