In DVSA News

With Hamilton under the province-wide stay-at-home order until February 11, the DVSA facility is closed. We will not be able to begin auction artwork intake until February 16 at the earliest. We are hoping to be able to re-open the school then and have restricted entry for drop-off. If not, we will move to a front door drop-off format. More information to be shared as we learn what options we’ll have available.

Join us as we embrace the future while celebrating the rich history of DVSA’s Annual Art Auction on its golden anniversary. Five decades later, the event that started as a simple garden party with a few paintings has moved online and become one of the largest fundraising art auctions in the country.

Help us keep the momentum going as we return to our previously postponed 50th anniversary edition. Between February 16 and March 14, 2021 we’ll be accepting original art submissions at the school in all mediums – paintings, pastels, drawings, lino/etching/woodblock prints, photography, sculpture, pottery, glass, fibre art and jewellery. Please consider showing your support by submitting artwork to what is our most important fundraising event of the year, enabling us to continue fulfilling our mission of offering high quality and accessible visual art programming for the Hamilton/Burlington region.

Jewellery artists, please use the specialized contract here (PDF).

All information about submitting artwork, including contracts and submission guidelines, is included in our Artist Submission Package (see links above). Submitted pieces may be a full donation or you may choose to have 25% or 50% of the selling price returned to you and receive a tax receipt for the amount donated to the school (with a minimum value of $20 per item). Plus, your work will receive exposure to thousands of art lovers and collectors from across the Hamilton region, Southwestern Ontario, Canada and now around the world – all who bid online and, where possible, visit the school to see the artwork over the course of the week.

It is impossible for non-profit organizations to mount such ambitious fundraising events as the Annual Art Auction without a strong base of support and the generosity of our regional artists. Thank you in advance for your support of this event.

We Got This!
To ensure we can meet the online bidding demand this year, we’ve worked with our auction website partners to implement a significant number of improvements, including staggered closing times, system upgrades and allocating more web hosting resources to handle capacity.

The 50th edition of the DVSA Art Auction is proudly presented by incite Foundation for the Arts.
