Full-time study in DVSA’s Advanced Studio offers an innovative and alternative art education for both the post-secondary and mature student. Rather than a conventional approach consisting of a number of separate courses, each of The Advanced Studio programs consists of one course encompassing a wide range of interrelated theoretical and practical experiences.
The curriculum is flexible and based on the individual needs and interests of each student. A small class size offers personal one-on-one instruction in a supportive, challenging and collegial atmosphere — a unique arrangement often unavailable at larger institutions.
Three programs of study are available in The Advanced Studio:
Foundation Studies in Visual Art – a one year course to prepare for further visual arts education
Independent Study in Fine Art – for those committed to a full-time studio practice
Residency in Fine Art – for a fine art degree graduate to prepare for a masters degree
